Set in the Greater Kruger, we are a nonprofit, educational safari camp working to reconnect local communities with the wilderness around them.

We work with NGOs, community organisations, and schools, offering a range of camp experiences and educational programmes to suit different needs and learning goals.

At Ditoro Outreach, we had the privilege of visiting Koru Camp, where we shared an unforgettable experience with the dedicated Koru Camp team. For many of our newest Ditoro members, it was their first time on a game drive—a moment that can change perspectives. My own first game drive at the age of 12 ignited my passion to become a guide. Today, I am honoured to be part of a journey that empowers our local communities in their pursuit of becoming field guides and ambassadors of our heritage. Our Almond Tree children had the most incredible time at Koru Camp – they absolutely loved it and are already missing it! For many of them, this was the first time they’d seen wildlife so close in its natural habitat or spent a night stargazing under an open sky. Those moments were pure wonder for them.
Coming from communities where there’s often fear of animals – especially dogs – and little value placed on conservation; this camp was eye-opening. We’ve long struggled to shift those mindsets, but Koru Camp managed to do it beautifully. The children came home with a deeper respect for nature, a growing love for wildlife, and so many stories to tell.
